Royal cousin welcomes first baby: ‘My dream has come true’

Lord Mountbatten’s great-granddaughter Maddison May Brudenell and her fiancé Bret Kapetanov have welcomed their first baby together. 
Brudenell, the third cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, welcomed baby Michael Adam at their home on August 6. 
The happy couple revealed the news to Hello! and shared the announcement on their Instagram accounts.

Named after Brudenell’s grandfather, royal obstetrician Michael Brudenell, the newborn’s entrance into the world didn’t go as planned. 
After a 40-hour labour, the model told Hello! they were rushed to hospital as a result of the umbilical cord snapping.

“I lifted him out of the water and held him to my chest, and then I heard a snap, it was very alarming,” she said. 
“Michael went white and then the midwives took over; then the ambulances and paramedics arrived.” 
Thankfully, both were OK, and Brudenell shared, “Our family feels complete.” She also has three children from her previous marriage to DJ Olaoluwa Modupe-Ojo. 
The model then shed some rare insight into their new life as parents and their upcoming wedding. 
“Witnessing Bret as a father to baby Michael has made me even more excited to make my forever home with him,” she said.
“My dream of a joyful family really has come true and I can’t wait to celebrate our life and love at our wedding next month.”
Brudenell revealed that her grandmother, Lady Pamela, is “very proud to call Bret her new grandson-in-law.

“He had a very different upbringing to me, working on the farm and going to work before school and after school. 
“In that regard, he’s a gentleman, and he knows how to treat a woman, and he knows how to respect his elders.
Brudenell concluded: “He’s shown Grandmama nothing but respect, and she holds him in high regard because of it.”
